Join One Pencil on October 2nd for Camping & Sunset Mountain Bike Ride at Antelope Island State Park, UT

Join friends of One Pencil for our 2nd annual Antelope Island sunset mountain bike ride (or skip the biking part and simply hang out) and watch the buffalo roam while enjoying post-ride food and drink courtesy of Taco Taco SLC at one of the most stunning locations in all of Utah.

TIME & LOCATION: White Rock Bay Group Campsite inside Antelope Island State Park. Arrive anytime after 2pm. We plan to start riding at 4pm SHARP to return to the campsite right around sunset. Please arrive early - even earlier if you need to set up a tent.

Camping Option: This year we rented a group campsite that accommodates 80 people, so spend the night camping if you want to hang out with friends and enjoy a beautiful night under the stars. (Antelope Island is famous for amazing sunsets and incredible star gazing. In 2017, it was designated a certified “International Dark Sky Park” by the International Dark Sky Association.

Ride Options: The intermediate/advanced level ride covers about 16 miles and 1,900 vertical feet stretching deep into the spectacular State Park. Most of the terrain is fairly modest, however there are a couple of challenging segments including a 1/4 mile section with an average grade of 11% and also the “Valley of Death Climb” that persists for over a mile. For those looking for a more modest ride, we have added a beginner loop of about 6 miles that still gets participants into more remote and scenic areas of the Park. We expect to finish the ride around the time of the 7:07pm sunset, but bike lights are encouraged (let us know if you need a light and we will have a few extras).

Let us know if you have any questions or comments. A headcount is important for camping, bike ride and food so please let us know if you’re coming and what your plans are.

Note: Antelope Island charges $15 per car for admission to the Park
